I remember so well our despair and helplessness during the drought of 2016 and 2017 when we set off from Cape Town with groups of excited Flower Tour guests. For most it would be a “trip of a lifetime” and the expectations were high. Barend and I did what we could to find the few flowers that were about but it was disappointing and our hearts were heavy. Fortunately the people, the culture, the amazing places, the vast views and the “Big Blue Skies” of that unique area cannot be eradicated and we still managed to have a lot of fun!
And now it is 2026 and the great news is – GOOD RAINS HAVE FALLEN! This year we will set off with high expectations and great promise to show off the best flower spots, tiny treasures and dazzling bulbs that make Spring in Namaqualand such a special experience.
